Neighborhood Alert
We have received a report that a man with the following description grabbed the arm
of a high school girl a couple of blocks from our school. He is about 5'8", thin,
African-American, short haired, has some facial hair, wearing dirty jeans, dark blue
or black shirt, shoes that don't match, may wear a bandanna. Please remind your children
to be especially careful, walk in pairs or groups and stay away from strangers.
Drug Tattoo Alert.
A form of tatto called "Blue Star" is being sold to school children. It is a small
piece of paper containing a blue star. They are the size of a pencil eraser and
each star is soaked with LSD. The drug is absorbed through the skin simply by handling
the paper. There are also brightly colored paper tattoos resembling postage stamps
that have pictures of Superman, Mickey Mouse, clowns, Disney characters, Bart Simpson,
butterflies, etc. If your child gets any of the above, do not handle them.
The tattoos are known to react quickly and some are laced with strychnine.
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week (October 24-30) is a national drug awareness program designed to help
children say "yes" to health and "no" to drugs. To mark the occasion St. Joe's has
scheduled assemblies and daily classroom activities. Look for and ask your student
for information which will be handed out. It is our intention to provide the students
with both knowledge and tools for avoiding drug usage.
