In this book there are three species of Ervatamia mentioned, along with other members of the Apocynaceae.
Ervatamia angustisepala - plant tops of a specimen at Whian Whian state forest gave a strongly +ve field test for alkaloids.
- the bark of another specimen from Pine Mt, Qld, yielded 3 g of base from 650 g of bark, the alkaloids were not identified. There were some tests with various animals with the whole base reported here too.
Ervatamia orientalis - leaves ( Babinda Qld ) found to yield 0.84 % alkaloids, previous reports have identified the alkaloids, Knox et al .
Ervatamia pubescens - plant material ( leaves ) from Bamaga, Qld, gave strongly +ve test for alkaloids, subsequently yielded 0.47 % alkaloids from leaves and stems.
Tabernaemontana coronaria - the plant tops from a specimen in the University grounds, Brisbane, gave a +ve test for alkaloids, synonyms Ervatamia coronaria, E. divaricata, T. divaricata, ......
Voacanga papuana - this species is reported as containing the alkaloids voacangine, vobtusine (papuanine) and voacamine. Voacangine and vobtusine are also reported from V. africana, V. obtusa, V. thouarsii. ( it seems that V. papuana is in fact a synonym for V. grandifloria, see further info.)
