Alphamethyltrypping on campus

A solid AMT experience

Substances: AMT

The Date: 12-23-98, 8:00 PM
The Dose: 42mg
The Place: My College Dorm, Alone in my Room

I've done AMT twice in the past, at dosages of 17mg and 35mg. The former was an unpleasant speedy binge, while the latter was much more psychedelic. I decided to up the dosage even higher, to 42mg (I overweighed 40mg), to celebrate finally finishing the college semester...

(T+ 0 hours): I took a gelcap filled with approximately 42mg AMT at 8:00 PM that night. Right after dosing I realized I'd have to buy batteries to put in my mini-recorder. Not a problem, since AMT generally doesn't take effect for about 3 hours. Went to the local supermarket and bought the batteries, some cough drops (I had a mild sore throat), and two bags of candy. I find that eating is actually enjoyable while on AMT. I also needed a trip-aborter, since IMO the AMT experience lasts way too long (about 16 hours). The first 10 or so hours after ingestion is the good part; then you start to feel like shit. On my previous two trips I'd used Dalmaneô (Flurazepam), which worked very well, and Miltownô (Meprobamate), which didn't work that well. I was out of prescription tranquilizers tonight, so I headed to the Vitamin Shoppe and picked up a bottle of Niacin, seeing how it was reputed to abort LSD trips. Unfortunately, I found out later that I hadn't bought the "flush-free" Niacin, so I'd supposedly experience some major hot flashes after I took it. No big deal. And so I went back to my room and waited...

(T+ 2 hours): No effects noted. Was getting anxious that "it wasn't going to work".

(T+ 3 hours): Finally it kicks in, not even gradually though. I just started noticing how speedy I was getting. Noted as such on the trip tape. More like "rambled as such", but whatever... I found I could type around 80 words per minute flawlessly. My normal typing speed is about 55 wpm or so. Turned on some music (I like "Weird Al" Yankovic, don't ask why) and had a blast just dancing like a maniac.

(T+ 4 hours): The "amphetamine phase" is slowly diminishing, and the psychedelic phase is slowly appearing. All my visuals on AMT are CEVs; I've yet to recieve an OEV, though at the peaks of the trips I can have CEVs even in a fully lighted room. Anyway, my first CEVs appear here. These are generally just swirling grey lines all over my field of vision. I decide to go outside and take a walk around campus...

(T+ 4.5 hours): It's snowing outside, which adds an interesting aspect to the trip. There aren't many people out, and I'm finding it incredibly euphoric to just stroll around in the snow with my eyes closed. I stop at one point to write "AMT -- 40mg" in the snow. I walk away, but soon see people approaching in the direction of that little marking. I become paranoid and run into the Engineering Building.

(T+ 5 hours): Ahh, the Engineering Building. At 1:00 AM after finals are over, I was pretty much the only person in this 15-story building. I take a few minutes to jump in the elevator, as it ascends and descends. I make my way up to the eighth floor and go into a room behind 2 combination-locked doors whose combinations I know. I plunge the room into darkness, and notice the outside sky has an orange glow to it. Interesting. I lay on the floor, close my eyes, and see fantastic patterns. I look at a powered-on computer still blaring Windows 98 at this time. I picture the image its monitor shows in my mind, and when I close my eyes I can still see virtually the same image. The image is static, however. If I turn my head, the same image persists; same thing if I run my hand in front of my face. I find I can just imagine anything and have it appear. I use this to imagine cars and naked women. :-) I print a sheet of paper in the lab saying "You guys have gotta try AMT... 40 milligrams of the stuff and you'll be sky high!" I get paranoid again about someone seeing this, and rip it up. Instead, I opt for simply writing "42 AMT" on a desk and leaving the room (and the building). I walk back to my place.

(T+ 6 hours): The euphoria at this time is incredible; not like DXM euphoria at all -- I'd place it as a mix between a heavy alcohol buzz and a codeine euphoria. Trust me, it feels phenomenal though. While making notes on my trip tape, I actually blanked out for what seemed at the time like 10 minutes. Turns out (as I listened to the tape later on), it was about 40 seconds. That's another thing -- the time dilation ges greater as you increase the dose. With 35mg, it was about 5 to 1. (Meaning 1 minute of real time felt like 5 minutes to me). With 42mg, it was bordering on 10 to 1. There was a time I went to the bathroom to pee, and then played around with the mirror (no, I didn't see anything evil -- no OEVs, remember?). It seemed like I was in there for 15 minutes. I came back, and 2 minutes had passed on the clock.

(T+ 7 hours): I barely know what's going on at this point. Note that this isn't a bad thing. I'm just on the floor on my room writhing in euphoria (not agony!). I had been updating the trip tape every half-hour or so, but 3:20 AM was to be my final update for the next 3 hours. I currently have no idea what I did for the intervening time. I didn't get any insights (I don't think you can equate AMT with LSD in that aspect), but the euphoria and the pattern CEVs I was getting were awesome...

(T+ 10 hours): At 6:00 AM, I snapped out of my stupor and realized that the shitty part of the AMT trip, the comedown, was here. The comedown on AMT is one of the worst feelings I've ever felt on a drug. In some aspects, it's worse than how you feel on Dramamine. Someone said it best in another AMT Report on this site. "You want to go to sleep, but your body can't" because you still have this compound in your brain. There's also this inability to stop twitching, which even impedes trying to simply lay still. I only managed to take the Niacin at 7:30 AM however, which brings us to...

(T+ 12 hours): Thirty minutes after taking the Niacin, I'm sitting at the computer when my entire face just becomes hot as hell. It wasn't really bothersome, but it got annoying as it stayed around for about an hour. Long story short about Niacin; it did help abort the trip somewhat, but I still didn't get to sleep until T+17 hours. Compare that with Flurazepam (T+11 hours -- virtually instantly) and Meprobamate (T+22 hours -- horrible). Anyone taking this compound, I *highly* recommend some benzodiazepine to take with it when you start to feel like shit. Trust me, it works.

(T+ 17 hours). I fell asleep (at 1:00 PM). I was woken up about 1 hour later by a phone call. For the next 12 hours, until I really went to bed that night at midnight or so, I felt drained and generally, like shit. That's really the only bad thing I can say about the trip. Next time, I'll be sure to use a Flurazepam again...

Miscellaneous Notes: Squeamish read no further -- It's difficult to jerk off on AMT. I thought it'd be relatively easy, but just like DXM, it takes a lot of effort and you end up sweating like a pig. Wait until you're sober. Eating, however, is nice, provided you chew your food. Food isn't necessarily "enhanced", but it tastes normal and was good to eat with all the water I was drinking to abate my fears of dehydration. I had maybe three-fourths of a gallon of water over the entire trip. Remember, though, chew your food. The Niacin pill, went down without a lot of water, and I basically had to force it down which brought on a momentary fit of extreme nausea. I would've puked if I hadn't stood still for about 1 minute. The trip, however, is nausea-free at high doses. I had no nausea until the Niacin incident, and it went away quickly. Note that at lower dosages (30mg and below), there is slight nausea, but nothing severe. No puking, etc...
