Moclobemide dulls the trip?

Substances: Moclobemide, 1,4-butanediol, LSD, 5-MeO-DMT, Psilocybe cubensis

Last weekend, after roughly six months of abstaining from the mushroom, I decided it was time for me to return. I had about 4 grams of P. cubensis mushrooms that were about 5 months old, so, thinking they had lost some potency over this time, I felt it would be a good idea to throw a small amount (~60 mcgs?) of LSD into the mix.

Two friends of mine and my wife were also to journey with me that night. After my friends showed up, I ingested 75 mgs of moclobemide, a synthetic MAOI which has been alleged to intensify the effects of tryptamines, similar to the betacarbolines in P. harmala and B. caapi. I then began boiling some water to prepare the mushroom tea. As a preamble to the trip I decided to vaporize a small amount of 5-MeO-DMT (~3-5 mgs?), the effects of which I believe helped prepare me for what was to come later on that night.

I finished preparation of the tea and sipped it over a 20 minute period while chatting with my tripping companions. (I was the only one on mushrooms, everyone else was on acid). After I finished the tea I ate the blotter and went to sit on the floor while I waited for the effects to manifest.

It took roughly an hour for things to get rolling. The first two-three hours of the trip consisted of the four of us talking- we might as well have been sober. The effects were mainly body-oriented, a general "trippy feeling" rather than full-blown visual hallucinations. My friends had someone they needed to meet, so they departed for the evening. I was anticipating a fairly heavy experience, a full-blown contact with the mushroom entities, but it never happened. The effects were surprisingly subtle. My wife went to play on the computer for a bit. I lit some incense and flipped through the pages of the Bhagavad-Gita waiting for some sort of dialect with the Mushroom to manifest. While this never occurred, I did manage to have a few insights which may or may not have been inspired by the mushroom. I realized that I had, for the most part, forgotten how to listen to my own "inner voice". Since my relationship with the mushroom had faded over time (I used to do high-dose mushroom journeys on a fairly regular basis) I have become delusioned, preoccupied with material issues. I realized it was imperative that I re-establish my relationship with the mushroom.

At T+4 hours I got on IRC and chatted with my online friends for a bit. I did about 1.5 ml of 1,4-bd, which synergized nicely with the chemical cocktail I was already experiencing. It wasn't until about five hours into the trip that the visual effects of the substances I was on began to really make themselves known. The carpet came alive with interweaving patterns, and the geometry of the room I was in began to wave and ripple.

After about 7-8 hours I finally went to bed. All in all, this trip had (as one would expect) the quality of both mushroom and LSD excursions. I do not feel that the moclobemide contributed signifigantly to the effects, as a matter of fact it may have even subtracted from them (!?.. see http://maps.org/news-letters/v06n3/06332ott.html for more info on MAOIs inhibiting rather than potentiating the effects of psychedelics)."
