It Works!Another impressive success story Substances: Salvia divinorum Gads, this stuff works. After 2 initial failures at smoking this stuff, I did it. It works. I am still reeling. The first time I smoked it, it was in a small pipe, near a tree by my campus. I was walking home from school and thought I would try it near the river. As I expected, I got an "effect" but not much more than nicotine or herbal tea. Later I tried it at my house, using a large glass waterpipe, and smoking a copius amount. I was certainly "stoned" from it, but not too impressive. My accomplice, however, collapsed on the couch on my front porch and reused to vocalize what was astonishing him so much. I was left intrigued, but without a supply to try again. A beneficent member of the VPL mailed a half ounce from his own garden. Today, after contemplating proper technique, I tried again. I smoked one large lungfull through a glass waterpipe, and held it in as long as possible, "pushing" it deeper into my lungs. I exhaled and tried to quickly take another inhalation, but my lighter jammed. I stood up to find a replacement while there was still time. As I stood, I felt like my eyes were being physically pulled towards the floor. I had to push back, stand up straighter, to keep from falling on my face. I foolishly tried to navigate down the stairs, as I was becoming frightened and wanted someone to witness my death if that was what was in store. As I walked, I noticed my consciouness "rotating" forward, doing flips. This is similar to the lateral rotation which excessive alcohol brings on, but much more pleasant. My mind felt very gluey, and it was sticking to the floor which was curving up to meet me. My roomate announced that I looked like I had done ether (which I've never tried). I handed him a bag of green, fragant leaves and said "try it". My speech was impaired, but my thoughts were racing like a razor-tipped train. While he smoked, I covered my eyes with my hands, and saw basically a black space, but more three dimensional than normal. Pinponts of pale light emerged, dancing to some degree. These became more frequent, until I could see three-dimensional rotating cylanders of some sort. Finally, these morphed into recognizable shapes. Curiously, I was watching flamingo necks and heads. Another roomate tried it, and she just remained seated and said "whoa" over and over. She still cannot express what happened. I'm eager to try this again, taking a larger hit and holding it longer. Also, I can see why darkness is important. While in the main areas of the house, which was well-lit, I did not have any visual distortions at all. But in the dark of my walk-in closet, I was certainly near if not approaching peak-mushroom space. My roomates had similar effects. For the record, one is 6 and a half feet, 240 pounds, male, 27. One is 5 foot 2, 120 pounds, female, 25. I am 5 foot 6, 140 pounds, male, 22. Perhaps growing technique is responsible for the difference in effect? Perhaps it really is about proper technique? We were using a Graffix brand 24" waterpipe with glass bowl. normal amount of cool water was used. Thanks to the VPL gardener who opened me up to a great new plant ally.
