Somewhat Hazy

A delerious encounter

Substances: Amanita muscaria

I have had 3 different experiences with A.muscaria:

About 2 years ago I started reading about Wasson and found the information about A.muscaria to be very interesting. So, I , along with a close guy-friend decided we must try them. I have always been a mushroom hunter and mycophile so I started reading up on field guides and we would go hunt them..with little success. That is until we went to the Texas-piney woods and struck it rich. We found over 30 different a.muscarias growing in various areas under pines. I could not wait to get home and try them.

So, we dried the caps of all 30 and decieded we could go slow at first and only try 2 small caps each. We sauteed the dried caps in butter and they weren't really that bad tasting. After an hour or so we started to feel very dreamy and somewhat hazy.....I really felt like I was sleeping but I wasn't, I felt very euphoric and I was slightly perspiring. The size of objects were distorted and I started hearing things that I think were never sounds......It was a mellow trip that lasted about 4 hours and afterwards I slept very well. We decided we would increase the dose for our second go-around. I wanted to really feel some effects. That next week we prepared our mushrooms the same way as before, doubling the dose to 4 mushrooms each. If I remember correctly, they weren't as large as the caps we previously ate so I figured we would be safe at this level. And we decided we needed the right surroundings so we went to my friend's summer cabin in Kerrville, Tx. The cabin was in the complete wilderness on a few 100 acres and we knew no one would bother us. We woke up early the next morning (before dawn) ready to travel. We pulled the couch outside under some trees and decided to watch the deer feed (lots of wild deer out there) as we ate our mushrooms. Jason almost immediately vomitted after we ate but I kept control of my share and held it down. For some reason, I felt like I had eaten too much. We sat there for about a half hour or so talking and watching and waiting for it to kick in. After 45 minutes, I started to feel this tremendous energy. I was perspiring and salivating alot and when I looked over at my friend he was drifting off to sleep. I did not want him to sleep; I needed him to walk with me on our travels. He was very distant and disoriented and I really needed to get rid of some of this darn energy. So, I told him I was going for a walk and I'd be back soon. I didn't think he could understand me. I started walking, and for some reason I felt to need to run. I was hearing lots of weird noises and I couldn't figure out what they were or where they were coming from. They sounded like cars going really fast down the highway, but the nearest highway was a few miles away. The next thing I knew I was running, where to I have no idea. I thought I was a deer, I literally thought and felt like I was a deer running through the forest. Things were very dream-like and somewhat clouded but I distictly remembering running through the forest past trees and rocks, not knowing or caring where I was going. I can't remember very much else, except that when I finally came back to my conscience, I was sitting under a tree rubbing my feet. I had no idea where I was or how I got there. It was sometime in the afternoon because it was getting hot. I looked at my feet and my shoes were missing and I had cuts and scratches all over them. There was mud and leaves in my hair, my clothes were all torn up, and I was really dirty. I also had this huge scratch along the backside of my leg, it looked like some animal-claw scratch, like a racoon or something. And the weird thing is, I have no memory of getting cut or feeling pain or anything like that. I was still very confused but I started walking, looking for any sign of familiarity and finally after walking a few miles, I found a state highway that I recognized. I wanted to get back to the safe cabin and see if my friend was okay. So, I followed the highway (as distant as I could from the road) for 5 more miles and finally reached the cabin. I still felt very dreamy and clouded and my friend was sleeping on that same couch. We 'vegged out' the rest of the day and the next morning I felt no side effects. I would say the trip lasted about 6 hours that time. The next day I got up and decided to try and find my shoes. So, I tried to retrace somewhat of a path and I counted 5 barb-wire fences that I must have jumped over to get where I found myself, 6 miles away from that cabin! I have no idea how I travelled those 6 miles, where my shoes ever were, how I got those scratches, or how I got over those fences in the condition I was in.

That was very bizarre to say the least and that's why I haven't eaten an aminita since. I'd rather smoke the skin.
