Smokable Datura

A brief account

Substances: Datura

I thought you'd dig this datura trip report --- smokable no less.

I had been exploring the possibility of using datura as a hallucinogen for quite some time, but due to its reported negative effects, I had decided to use only the most potent part of the plant, the seeds, and try to make a smokable substance. I had smoked the leaves and flowers before with no notable effects except an exceptionally dry mouth and eyes. I took about 100 seeds of datura stramonium, and ground them up in a morter and pestle the best I could, and I put them in a pot with about 2 cups of water. I got it up to a slow boil, and let it simmer for about 2 hours. I spaced it and it dried out completely, so I put more water in it and stirred it a bit, and then after another hour I strained it and continued to boil down the liquid until it was nothing but a powder in the bottom of the pan. I thought it was burned... once again I'd let it get down to no liquid but I scraped the black powder that was left (about 2 teaspoons worth) and put it in a cup. I filled a small pipe bowl with the powder, went to my room, and fired it up. It was harsh, and tasted like you'd expect burnt seeds to taste like. I thought it wasn't gonna work, but after about 4 hits I started to get a nervous feeling in my stomach, and I started to get that "pre-trip" feeling in my body. I figured this was going to be a long, hard trip, so I went outside and told my spouse, who was not amused, that if I passed out or whatever, to not mess with me, but that if I stopped breathing, that I had taken datura. I started to trip hard, with a tingling in my extremities, and my heart started pounding very hard and fast. I had to lie down on my bed with my arms and legs extended, and concentrate on calming down and slowing my heart down. I managed to calm down, and enjoyed the rest of the trip, which only lasted a total of about 30 minutes. After an hour, I felt back to normal, although my mouth and eyes were extremely dry for a few hours. All in all, it wasn't that bad, and I'm sure that I better preparation, possibly combined with other substances, would have made it into a more positive experience.
