Eye Paralysis

This one wasn't much fun

Substances: Datura

Datura, yea sure grows all over the place here. Big pretty white flowers. Spikey seed pods. I tried it once. That was enough. I had heard that the seeds were the most potent part. So I boiled up a handfull as tea. This it turned out later to be quite a mistake. After drinking the tea I sat around for an hour or so and feeling no effects, I went to sleep. The next morning I awoke, apparently normal. I went into the bathroom and noticed that my eyes were quite dialated. Almost totally dialated for that matter. That morning haze after a good night sleep ended with a shocked what the fuck have I done feeling. Upon further reflection and gazing into the mirror I came to the realization that not only were my eyes totally dialated but my focus was fixed at about two feet from my face. The next few minutes were spent moving things into and out of my field of focus. It seemed as if the smoothe muscles in my eyes that focused my vision had become totally paralyzed. This concerned me as it had never happened on a trip before. Other than that things seemed relatively normal. After a cup of coffee and further reflection on my predicament I decided that the appropriate thing to do would be to walk down to the public library and see if I might be able to find more information as to datura, its active ingredient atropine and what horrible death might await me now that I had so thoroughly overdosed myself. The local library has an unusually large assortment of books on drugs and wild plants and I was able to dig up enough information in a relatively short time to determine that, yes it does that and although there are drugs which can counteract the effect of atropine, I didn't have any, nor would I feel particularly comfortable explaining to the family doctor exactly why I needed a dosage of said drug. At this point perhaps I was feeling just a bit stimulated. I also noticed that not only were people staring at me but that this town was hicksville and I really should get the hell out. I quickly left the library to return to home. At this point, the daylight was quite painful and I had no sunglasses. I got back home and closed the curtains, trying to make it as dark as possible. I lay back on the couch and as I closed my eyes and saw exploding spheres. Not your ordinary hallucination, a rather pleasant change of pace from the usual multi-colored 4 dimensional crystal spinning spirals. I also saw lots of faces. Not faces that I seem to remember or recognize though. I spent the rest of that day hanging out around the house, not doing much of anything and not feeling much in the way of effects. I went to bed that night, woke up the next day and other than being constipated for about two days after that had a very mundane trip. I wouldn't do it again since I didn't get much from the first time. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else either. The paralysis of vision was particularly disturbing as was the extreme constipation. On my scale of 1 to 10 I give this a 2, nutmeg was a 3, I hope not to ever experience a 1. There's a reason datura isn't popular and mainly that's because it sucks. Stick with the drugs that are tried and true and tested on grad students.
