Tiletamine2-ethylamino-2-(2-thienyl)cyclohexanone, C12H17NOS (mol. wt. 223.34)
Tiletamine, which is similar to Ketamine in terms of chemical structure and action, is used in combination with zolazepam as a veterinary anesthetic under the brand names "Zoletic" and "Telazol".. It has been found in pills sold as ecstasy, by itself and mixed with ephedrine.
"Ketamine and Tiletamine are dissociative drugs which interrupt the cerebral association between the limbic and cortical systems. The animal may appear to be in light plane anaesthesia but is insensitive to surgical stimulation. Muscle relaxation may be poor when these drugs are used alone and the addition of an alpha2-adrenoceptor stimulant such as xylacine, or a benzodiazepine such as diazepam will increase muscle relaxation." - The Veterinary Formulary (Fourth Ed.)
