Hey fellow Alchemists. Check this out!

Mimosa Hostilis. It has been expressed that this is a very clean source
of the magical D without much else involved to steer the experience (i.e.
5-Meo, although there may be some negligible n-methlyD). It has also been
expressed that much frustration has been obtained when trying alkaloid
extractions using this material, which leaves most people to use it in a
rue/root brew, often producing varying results with much purging.

I have been told that success has been achieved extracting pure white
crystals rather easily recently. The procedure is as follows:

The starting material was a mere ounce of ground up (via hammer on concrete
and newspaper) root bark to a fine powder/fibrous material. This was placed
in a sealed jar with diluted muriatic acid. pH was near 1. No heat was
involved. Just about a week of soaking and occasional shaking. The liquid
took on a burgandy color. The liquid was filtered into another clean jar and
the sludge was again extracted for another day with shaking. A third extraction
for an hour was also performed and all the liquids combined. The sludge indeed
looked a bit blanched afterwards. To the burgandy liquid, sodium hydroxide
was slowly added (it is an exothermic reaction, be careful) until the pH was
up near 13. As the pH rose above 7 the liquid turned green with white precipitate
forming. The pH needs to be pretty high so the green becomes very dark.
Let cool. To this then a non-polar solvent was added and shaken. If the
pH is too low an emulsion layer forms that is very troublesome. Overwhelming
with solvent can help or pouring the whole mess through a strainer to break
up the emulsion layer. However, with the pH around 13, this may be circumvented.
Shake, shake, shake and let soak for a few days with frequent shaking. Extract
into the non-polar solvent three times (the magic number.) Two layers form,
so separate the layers keeping the solvent for evaporation, distillation or
Upon evaporation in a pyrex dish, or whatever, nice circular white needles
are formed which have an extremely low b.p. and mind-blowing capability.
No percieved difference from sythetic orange wax ;) One ounce obtained around
20 bowlfuls of this magical substance. Happy geometric worlds await.

peace,
august
