When I was a lot younger and alot more sprightly, I used to be a mad keen skateborder, it was a huge a part of my life for along time . It was skateboarding, dance music and drugs, that was me for along time. But not so much any more, its just the drugs part now, hiking has replaced skateboarding, and acoustic folk, dance music . Its cool I'm alot more mellow these days, lol.
I used to live in this big converted warehouse with a whole bunch of other skateboarding, techno loving, drug freaks. It was a great place. and hundreds of trips were consumed there, while I was there, and from what I hear hundreds are still being taken there, as the flat has been passed down to each new generation coming up, you gotta love that.
It's right in the heart of the city, I live right on the outskirts now, lol. But yeah, we took tons of trips, and E, and speed, and anything else going, day in day out. A particularly fun thing I remember doing was nightime city skate sessions high on LSD, with all my friends. We where all serious long term skaters and some crazy shit would go down, especially when a trip or two is taken.
Imagine tracers everywhere at what seems like a million miles an hour. Its an amazing feeling, especially when you are at one with your board, as you usually are after ten years skating. Man I remember flipping the biggest gaps, without a care in the world, just an amazing sense of freedom. You do things that make you second guess your own inner abilities, handrails, no problem.
The city becomes a big playground, when high on LSD, pot, and lurking on the periphery with a bunch of other psychedelic skateboarding ninjas. You all become so close, you are in this little society that contains some really switched on people, who are both artistic and in supreme physical shape. Its like amazing to be that locked in togeather as one, you just push yourself to extremes you couldn't achieve on your own. Man I wouldn't have given up that time for the world, it was as good as it gets.

Sounds like fun.
I used to love skating on acid. I always felt like I could tap into the essence of perfect movement for brief periods and have an effortless and elegant style. I think it was more to do with the complete loss of self-consciousness that was the trick, there.

DUDE! You seriuosly just took me back about 20 years! The spring of 1990 was spent in a good friends empty pool, pushing the limits of what we were capable of on a skateboard, with the help of our first page of blotter. We all learned alot about life and eachother. And the importance of fluidity of motion. (occasionally, we would learn that if you did go down pretty hard and did'nt feel any pain, it might be best to wait a few minutes to make sure you were 'nt about to jump back on your board with a broken ankel! ) LSD can be an amazing tool for anything involving physical/mental dexterity. Skating, biking, rock climbing. Thanks again for reminding of a time when this was all new and exciting. It really was as good as it gets.

I think it was more to do with the complete loss of self-consciousness that was the trick, there. I used to love snowboarding tripping for the same reason. The combination of the beautiful scenery and the ride was just breathtaking. It was like the mountain was showing me how to ride it, directing me to little jumps and whatnot that I would never have noticed before. The interaction between myself and the environment was almost sensual

I have a few mates who are still keeping the flame alive. They seem alittle creepy these days, lol.
For me the end came when I snapped my leg in three places doing and frontside grap on a mini ramp.
A large part of me will always be a skateboarder. i still have one, Element, Krux trucks, and spitfire wheels, Ive had it for years and it still looks new. When I skate I feel awkward and heavy, out of touch with my machine, and that makes me a sad.
These days skateboarding makes me feel old rather than young hahaha.

I quit when I went off the edge of a homemade half pipe trying to do a nosepick. ~15ft, landed on my feet with the board vertical between my legs. A ton of hot chicks around watching, I tried to play it off as nothing but I only made it perhaps 20 seconds before I hurled, crawled to a tree and alternately cried and hurled for the next 5 minutes. Admittedly i was sorta young but my nuts were swollen and bruised for more than a week. That along with the blow to my pre-teen ego has kept me from riding more than maybe ten times after that. Of course bikes, mountain boards and snowboarding more than made up the difference.

Skateboarding is fun on LSD, but sometimes find zoning out too often and rarely do much other than cruise around the city.
'Phil feels that Skiing or Snowboarding (whichever your flavor) was a better mix. Less energies exerted (though this often isn't a problem while tripping, only after!) often brilliant mountain/snowy scenery. Relaxing chairlifts up. (heights of these lifts may become scary for some.) Terrain features didn't interest me a ton while high, which is odd cause they normally do. The real bonus here is the beautiful invention of goggles...never have to worry about anyone seeing your saucer-pan pupils, and they can stimulate interesting visuals with the combinations of colored lens. (crazy to change lenses in your goggles too!)
Cops don't patrol ski hills either, but they sure do love messing with skaters.

yeah.. skateboarding on acid, haha my friend used to be obsessed with it, he said that it made you much better, I remember my first time on cid, in a parking lot with him, learning how to ride.. I figured I had it mastered.. i was a taoist.. who cares about form, it was fun just being on a sliding piece of wood.. i skated for a while and never learned any traditional tricks, but still really enjoyed it, as a way to get around, in my mind I had it mastered, unfortunately my other friend has my board in the trunk of his mom's car right now, in some other continent. I found another board, with no wheels, maybe I should get some... hmmm.

I did it quite a few times.
I remember once, I had alot of really good trips, a group of guys whom I was pretty close too wanted to take some, so I thought it would be a good idea for us to drop a tab and go skateboarding around town, it was a lovely summers day if I recall, this has to be 13 years ago now. It was amazing we were like connected in this psychic train just zooming through the city streets in peak traffic, while the sidewalks were crammed with lunch time drones. We ended up in a park just blissing out, riding our boards down a steep dry grass bank . Tripping on roses and henry moore statues. In the early evening when we were balancing out we found a cool pole jam outside a shopmand spent hours just coming up with random shit over it. I remember doing a pole jam backside grab one eighty, which must have really buzzed me out to remember that now.
I remember there was this crazy hand rail everyone wanted to try downtown, and one wednesday night, around the same time, like 2-3 in the morning a few of us were tripping and decided to do the rail, it was awesome, it was a real sketchy handrail that I would never try, and I managed to frontside slide it, after sacking myself once . But it must have been a good night to remember it after all this time, and all this bud .
Another time tripping I remember grinding down a steep cable car rail, like a miilion miles an hour, my axles were covered in so much grease, but it was late at night and I couldnt see and was tripping so didnt notice, and ended up covered in grease . I remember glow worm caves .
Got arrested with a friend on five tabs, because we were skating around a fire truck at a big downtown fire, we didnt even notice, we were just tripping on the truck, some angry guys in uniforms really hated the interest we had in the truck, and well arrested us.

Great tip, I'm definitely going to go downhill skiing on acid this winter. I guess it will have to be a mild-medium dosage, though, since I'll be staying at a cabin at a mountain resort with my parents.
