One summer me and a friend went up to his cabin in the mountains for some weed and fishing. Later on we went inside and turned on the radio and fired up the hookah. Suddenly we become aware of the strange music playing on the radio; I was flabberghasted (If that's how you spell it), frantically trying to find a pen and some paper, ready to write down the name of the track soon to be announced. This program goes on for hours, one gem after the other, and I'm happy as a music geek can be!

Of course I lost that piece of fucking paper!

Three emails to the radio station later, no one seems to bother to help me out and send me a tracklist. I'm crushed.

Today I think it's about time I try to dig up some of this stuff again. So I ask you, lycaeumites, probably in pure desperation: Does anyone know anything about the music I'm talking about?

Actually, I think you might be right! I "know" Mos Def sampled one of her songs on Ecstatic, I think it might be the opening track.

Other than that I stumbled upon a guy called Haroon Al-Qahtani that did a hip-hop/turkish rock DJ set. You can get it on his website: http://homepage.mac.com/alqahtani/Menu1.html
Lots of other mixes and remixes. A tad amateurish for my tastes, but still a lot of good stuff.

Also found a record by Erkin Koray on torrentz.com called Elektronik Türküler. Not listened much to it but sounds a bit nice.

SO! No one else?!

Nature, to be commanded, must be obeyed.

I say that you cannot administer a wicked law impartially. You can only destroy. You can only punish. I warn you that a wicked law, like cholera, destroys everyone it touches -- its upholders as well as its defiers.
