Alright, so I've got employment in this new business which I'm basically running as my own, and I want to focus on website production. I will have some work to do but I will also have a lot of spare time that I can put into whatever job that I want, and I was thinking I'll use my time to get really groovy with Drupal.
First of all, me and trilobite think that we should move the Lycaeum forum server to something stable. Perhaps we could setup a fund of some sort and let members donate a small amount to keep a stable server running. It seems not to be working out very well as it is with the database going down all the time.
My idea was to start working on a Lycaeum community portal using Drupal, and convert the lycaeum forum to the Drupal forum and host all of it in Bulgaria. I'm very much into putting some good effort into making something nice for all of us, but I don't want to do it on my own. I'm basically doing this post to hear who else is interested/qualified to work for something like that. Administrating and moderating included.

So I guess this mean the interests is close to zero. What happened here? No interest in an entheogenic online community? No LEDA revival, or trip report database. No profile or blog features.. I guess it's all around already, but I think it would be nice to gather people interested in psychedelics in one place and create some tribal identity around it. These are powerful substances, with a powerful effect. If fetlife people can do it, why can't we?

I think some changes to the website are in process (server upgrades should be about finished). I don't know what all else they are planning though. The problem with profiles and blogging is the ease with which one can be tempted to put too much information up that could possibly come back to hurt them later. I'm not saying this would happen to anyone, but I think it has always been our major deterrent from having this sort of thing. Drugs-forum.com has plenty of blogging space, SWIM references and well... not much else...

Weedie and biochemist, the people who maintain this forum and the lyc site are pretty much the same people that have administrative rights on the forum. You can go to members page, search for "uberstrator" and you will get their profiles with their contact info. Most of them are easier to contact via chat. Especially check out the channel #love. I have to warn you though that this kind of idea is probably better if you do it without them. I don't think that theyd' be that interested in moving the services to Bulgaria. Some of these guys are really busy with careers and families, so they have little time for this project that they started over 10 years ago. At least MolokoVelocet has said to me that he basically considers this forum completely useless. There are already so many online drug portals and nowadays you can talk about drugs anywhere on the net, that it might be really difficult to find volunteers for that kind of project.

I will have a lot of time working with Drupal. It's probably best if I start working on something and we'll see how it goes. I'm putting my career into web development, so any project that will improve my proficiency is good, and I'd really enjoy working on a community project. I would like to make Lycaeum go on living, and with bravour, so that's why I'm asking who's interested.
If you got any wishes or desires for a online community, let me know.

I think U's suggestion is sound. You should discuss this wth the people who currently operate the levers.
They may be glad to wash their hands of the maintainance of this site or they may have a parental pride in keeping it to themselves ( I know I would after all these years).
In any case I'd be very surprised to find out you could do one darned thing without their cooperation and approval.
Your concern and ambition are noted and appreciated.
