I'd like to say I like FarmerJ's recommendation to switch it up genre wise.

Though I'll be reading more Vonnegut in either case -- thanks guys.

How 'bout some Tolstoy?  Maybe just select 2 or three of his shorter works?

What good comedy novels are there?

Maybe another Vonnegut even?  Anyone read Jailbird by him?

Or, hmmm.... I could even go for some horror stuff.

I'd love to see some more of your suggestions as well, to open these eyes some more.
\
edit:  did everyone finish The Sirens of Titan?  Man, that was killer! shocked  Thanks for suggesting that one FarmerJ, very enjoyable.  I've got a page of notes of favorite parts, when can we discuss fellas?  I'll get in when I can.

I would say its safe to assume that the book club is dead. Its too bad because it was a great idea but the lack of response is  undecided
I'll still let people know what I'll be reading to see if they want to follow along but undecided

Yeah it's based on teh game, I was excited about the Tim Burton one until I found out it was being released by Disney. They probably axed most of the more mature themes Burton might have pitched, Johnny Depp still looks wicked sick though. But American Mcgee's Alice is going to be the no holds bar uncensored Alice, horror movie style the way it should be daaaaamn

Just in P&L and one thread for voting on the book and one for discussion. Both pinned and easy to find but like I said the lack of reception kinda negates the effort.

"hello, is this thing on?"  (Kermit taps the mike and waits for the feedback to die away)   grin

Why the lament for lack of participants.?  RIGHT AFTER I  pop in to give a suggestion for a book to read?

I'm pretty sure my daddy wasn't a glass blower, so why march right over me without pausing to flip me off on the way by?   Just leave an IED outside my house if you don't want me showing up at the meetings anymore.

(Kermit wanders away; poking a finger into his chest in an effort to discern his corpreal state of being once more; just to make sure!)

Somedays it doesn't pay to get out of bed,  grin

I was enthusiastic about this until it came to actually doing it.
It's one thing to read a book and talk about it, but it's another to write about it - that's homework.

Fuck you tech! You can't even read, you asshole! See? I'm not too lazy to spell asshole out! But you're probably not lazy, you just can't spell either, you motherfucker!
Just for that, I'm going to write a book and send it to Moo to get you to read and then when you read it, I'll tell you that I wrote it and you'll have to kill yourself because it'll be the best fucking book you ever read! Which won't be a stretch since you can't even read so you'll have taught yourself to read just so you could read my book and then you'll want to kill yourself again but you'll already be dead.
Yeah.

If I couldn't read I wouldn't be able to be a part of the forums b00b! Your right about the spelling part but I don't give a shit. As far as you writing a book it would probably resemble Madonna's children books. You're probably right about me wanting to kill myself after reading them. So eat shit and die bastardo! namaste dead friggin horse

Let's get this book club up and running I got time on my hands!

What should we read?
We should establish a couple of days a week to get on the same page.
Literally cheesy
Then the discussion wouldn't be so random.
Moo! You're in charge.
How about Heinlein or Vonnegut to start?
Easy to read and dense with ideas.
Starship Troopers is my nomination followed by Harry Harrison's satire of it, Bil, the Galactic Hero.
Just to get us talking.
