I have started a parasite cleanse, which involves modification of diet (no sugar, alcohol or animal products) as well as ingesting various different herbs to kill the parasites. Apparently, intestinal parasites are something most people have, we just don't know it.

My herb regimen started yesterday is:
Wormwood tea in all its disgusting bitterness, morning and night
Black walnut and cloves, encapsulated, take two in the morning and two at night

Anyone done a parasite cleanse before, suggestions for other herbs to use, or the length of time needed to complete the cleanse? I was told 100 days might be necesssary, as this is the life cycle of some parasites.

Also there is a slightly psychoactive effect, probably from the wormwood. Felt slightly stoned when going to bed and dreams all night were very vivid.

No responses, ah well  tongue

I tapped into the fact that syrian rue tea is a pretty effective antiparasitic substance. Sweet  grin Parasites are most active in the few days before and after the full moon, so a few rounds of syrian rue tea along with the capsules described above I think has done a pretty good job killing my intestinal free-loaders. Syrian rue is fun to drink and then go to sleep... vivid dreams!

The wormwood and black walnut with clove capsules I felt were only meant to be taken for 4-5 days. The wormwood builds up in my system and eventually I start to feel really surreal, like living in a Salvador Dali or Van Gogh painting. Dreamy, disconnected, fuzzy. I think the clove and black walnut is strong enough that it can kill beneficial bacteria in the gut as well as parasites. So don't take this stuff for too long, or it may become harmful.

I might do the same regimen of herbs and syrian rue around the full moon for the next three months, to ensure all parasites are dead.

One other thing: after taking a high dose of syrian rue (about 5 grams) some persons experienced an allergic skin rash condition which disappeared after 24 hours. The subject who was affected the worst had been drinking lots of nettle tea, which has histamine in it. Histamine being a monoamine, the syrian rue probably prevented its breakdown causing the skin irritation. Possibly toxins also being eliminated from the body also. Nothing to worry about too much, personally I find syrian rue extremely well tolerated by my body even at high doses. It is definately a healing vector.

I'm not sure about this yet as an antithelmintic or vermifuge or whatever but pennyroyal kills a developing human fetus pretty swiftly. So do black & blue cohosh evidently but can be plenty toxic to the human organism over time.

With that said, I believe marigolds contain permethrin, the stuff RAID and other bug killers are based from. You might want to look into some of those for human toxicity profiles.

Marigold (Tagetes) and Chrysanthemum have pyrethrin in them, permethrin is a synthetic but closely related compound. Pyrethrin is essentially non-toxic and indeed these plants are sometimes recommended for their health benefits.

My mother, who has taken extensive coursework in herbology (I think she is/once was certified), suggests castor oil and black walnut. She also is a big fan of coffee enemas followed up by a caster oil enema, though, that takes some commitment Smiley

I was watching one of those Aya tourist things on cable tv one night. You know the ones- "Hello, we've come to see your wonderful Peruvian jungle way of life, Where's the ayahuasca condo?"

and the presenter actually got around to discussing the antiparasitic nature of the aya brew and that sometimes the shamans emphasize its' intestinal value as well as its' spiritual value.

My question Papy is will your anti parasite treatment screw up the beneficial bacteria native to your gut?

of course im not fuckin kidding!
after 5 years of heroin addiction, believe you me, you would have taken a lot of desperate measures to try and evacuate that dehydrated mass of clay hard excrement outta there.

but a coffee enema has other bonuses as well. it stimulates the relaxation of smooth muscle up to the small intestine, causing dilatation of the blood vessels and bile duct, thus flushing A LOT of toxins that are stuck there, and clearing the liver, stimulating its function.

so you stick a nozzle up your anus, big fckn deal. once you get over it the first time, you're ok.

man, this whole ayahuasca tourism business fills me with so much spite.
some of those morons should be quietly disposed of there, on the spot, in the jungles.
fuckin idiots.

i have repeatedly pointed out the fundamental importance of the intestines and peristalsis in...well, all human affairs.
i have particulatly felt this on ayahuasca, but also on cacti.
there is a very strong feedback between the GI tract and the CNS, and peristaltic rhythms pretty much lead the ebbs and flows of the rest of the body.

as for flushing the intestinal flora, you need to ingest strong laxative chemicals (e.g. epsom salts) in huge doses, on a regular basis, for a period of time to do that.
and there is a certain procedure to fix that afterwards, it's called fecal transplant.  cheesy

Usually not. If the plant material is gently simmered for fifteen minutes rather than triple boiled, the taste is foul but bearable. Even better is doing a 24 hour cold water extraction. The oils in the plant add an extra level of foulness to the alkaloids, with a CWE these oils are mostly left behind. The alkaloids are in the seed coat and come into solution relatively easily. I tried adding a little salt (works with coffee to make less bitter) but this only made the brew taste worse  tongue

Alternatively, one can extract the harmala alks from syrian rue very simply, needing only salt, vinegar and a fridge. The extracted yellow alks can be gelcapped for ease of ingestion. I would generally take a OO gelcap and fill up half or all the way for one good dose. Two full caps can be taken, this is a much stronger dose and should be separated by say 30 minutes to ease the body into it. I find even such high doses of harmala alkaloids are well tolerated by my body in extracted form. Two caps is enough to put me straight to sleep for 3-4 hours, and then I would usually wake up to everything covered in fuzzy patterns and visuals. Nice stuff.

I've heard of doing coffee enemas, and may explore that avenue in time. Anybody for a yerba mate enema?

My question Papy is will your anti parasite treatment screw up the beneficial bacteria native to your gut?
If taken for an extended period of time, the beneficial bacteria can suffer. Yogurt, acidophilus culture etc can be used to help reestablish a healthy population of gut bacteria. For this reason I stopped taking the wormwood, black walnut and clove capsules after a few days.

 grin  I'm a ground breaking trend setter.  The wormwood is most surely a toxic one, but it was this component that gave me the most unbelievable dreams.  I was only using the walnut with it.  I had been instructed to use the worm wood two times.  The second time with the walnut.

First week you do increasing doses of worm wood for 5 days at which point the small bottle is used up.  Eat nothing but apples for a couple of days as well for an extra roughage scrub..... cheesy  The next week you do the same with the addition of the walnut extract.

Surreal is a good description of ones feelings by the end of those two weeks.   cool   and I think it helped my overall health and energy levels.  It's been about two or two and half years since that cleansing and look how far I've fallen.   wink

This may call for a Visit to Betsy's Health Foods store.

As long as we are talking digestive systems.  FUCK anti-acids like prilosec and those chalky fruit chews called TUMS.

I succesfully cured myself of acid reflux and a small stomach ulcer using apple cider vinegar.  The increase in acidity of the stomach contents "TRIGGERS" the stomach to empty into the small intestine.  Any decrease of acidity will bring instant relief from the burning reflux but the stomach simply adds more acid and the reflux problem continues.  You can see why they want you to use Anti acid treatments.  It cures the immediate problem but leaves the cause untouched.  With the dose of vinegar everytime you feel reflux starting, you retrain the body and stomach, so that in a few months time you will find yourself forgetting all about stomach problems and often no longer needing it daily after meals.  In which case I call that a cure.  The daily use of the 'treatment' results in cure and freedom from taking any treatment.  THEY want you to be buying Tums/Prilosec for the rest of your life.  No interest what-so-ever in curing anything so profitable to them.

Your happy thought for the day was lost in delivery, you get this utilitarian reminder instead,

It is true, this is a great way to get rid of acid reflux etc! Adding an antacid (base) to your stomach, decreases the stomach acidity, which tells your body it needs MORE ACID! Thus making the problem worse... as you say, another case of temporarily masking the symptoms, without treating the cause.

BUMP!

I am thinking that this may not be the best option if using syrian rue as an anti-parasitic agent. The extraction serves to purify the harmala alkaloids from the other alkaloids in the plant as well as oils and other plant compounds. However, the crude plant extract has a stronger and more diverse medicinal effect due to all the other compounds in it. The combined effect of the compounds in syrian rue tea, and their ease to absorb in tea form, make this the most potent medicinal brew.

Probably it would be best to drink the wormwood as tea also, bitter though it is  tongue

From here: http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/intestinal-parasites-000097.htm

Herbs:

    * Garlic (Allium sativum)
    * Barberry (Berberis vulgaris)
    * Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis)
    * Oregon grape (Berberis aquifolium)
    * Tea tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia)
    * Anise (Pimpinella anisum)
    * Wormwood (Artemisia annua)
    * Curled mint (Mentha crispa)
    * Black walnuts (Juglans nigra)

Nutrition:

    * Avoid simple carbohydrates, such as those found in refined foods, fruits, juices, dairy products, and all sugars, except honey.
    * Eat more raw garlic, pumpkin seeds, pomegranates, beets, and carrots, all of which have antiworm properties. Researchers found that a mixture of honey and papaya seeds cleared stools of parasites in 23 out of 30 subjects. Drink a lot of water to promote good bowel elimination.
    * Consume more fiber, which helps get rid of worms.
    * Supplement your diet with probiotics, such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacilus plantarum, Saccharomyces boulardii (250 mg, one to two times per day between meals), and bifidobacteria, to keep parasites from spreading.
    * Digestive enzymes will help restore your intestinal tract to its normal state, which makes it inhospitable to parasites. Papain taken 30 minutes before or after meals helps kill worms.
    * Vitamin C (250 - 500 mg two times a day) or, if well-tolerated, much higher doses of up to 6,000 mg per day in otherwise healthy adults and zinc (20 - 30 mg per day) support the immune system. Lower vitamin C dose if diarrhea develops.

Drugs:

    * Mebendazole (Vermox) -- roundworm, hookworm, pinworm
    * Thiabendazole (Mintezol) -- threadworm, pork worm
    * Metronidazole (Flagyl) -- giardiasis
    * Nitazoxanide (Alinia) -- giardiasis, cryptosporidiosis

Overview:

There are two main types of intestinal parasites: helminths and protozoa. Helminths are worms with many cells, and are generally visible to the naked eye in their adult stages. Tapeworms, pinworms, and roundworms are among the most common helminths in the United States. In their adult form, helminths cannot multiply in the human body. Protozoa have only one cell, and can multiply inside the human body, which contributes to their survival and enables serious infections to develop. Transmission typically occurs by fecal-oral route (for example, through contaminated food or water). In the U.S., the most common protozoa are giardia and cryptosporidium.

There not exactly random, and are likely just as effective as the pharma compounds. I'd rather give my money to people growing plants than to a drug company. Generally I just like to work with herbs whenever possible, for minor medical or health purposes.

That is true. The cloves, black walnut and wormwood should not be taken over an extended period of time. I have personally found syrian rue pretty innocuous, even at high doses (have used doses up to 5 grams in tea form or 500-1000 mg of extracted alkaloids). At higher doses it becomes pretty disorienting and causes dizzyness and nausea if you move around too much. I have pretty much ignored every MAOI dietary restriction and had no adverse effects, but it might be a good idea to observe the dietary restrictions, and I have heard red meat may be something to avoid for some people. A female friend got a sudden skin rash across much of her body after drinking 5 grams of syrian rue tea, so caution is definately advised. Start off small, and get a feeling for how the plants work in your body.

Good topic! Pumpkin seeds are a great deworming agent. For cleansing of the digestive system, lots of steamed carrots, pearl barley soup and green tea. Garlic is a very good all around health promoter and immune system booster. Honey is a general antibiotic and cayenne pepper is good for cleansing and also a blood purifier. Of course, any cleanse should include lots of fluids, some say they should not be cold drinks. Tea is great and the simple act of boiling the water purifies it. Dates are also a good cleanser and sugar substitute. Spend time in nature to cleanse your mind and spirit as well. Milk and dairy products tend to cause the body to produce phlegm.

 Be well.
