RE: D.I. help
Dreamed I received 60gm D. Illinoensis root bark but wasn't sure that the extraction methods studied are well-suited for "Desi". In fact, there were some unhappy dreamerssaying: "goo, gunk, unworkable", etc....
Any successful dreams in getting to a clean, readily-vaporized form? Is Yoda right?

RE: D.I. help
Look on the lyceam for an acid/base extraction, this requires 2 different solvents that will not mix, and 2 ph modifiers, i.e. sulfuric acid + baking soda, or any acid and base, most of the time you can clean up any compound by making it acidic, or basic and "wash" or conitually add solvent; to the solvent that contains the substance, of course, these solids won't mix, so they form layers, easily separated, taking the "goo" out of the substance.

RE: D.I. help
Uh Plasma....I think he was asking if anyonecould report first hand "dream" success withan extraction. He indicated that he was already familiar with an acid-base extraction. (Yoda's and August's at the Lycaeum are essentially the same)

RE: D.I. help
That brings up another question: Some processes start with soaking in a non-polar solvent, others start with an acid. Other than that, the methodology is essentially the same. Are there advantages to one over the other?
If so please elucidate.

RE: D.I. help
What method starts with soaking in a non-polar solvent??? Do you mean to defat as a first step??? Or are you referring to methanol?? If so, be aware that methanol is NOT non-polar. I've seen VERY few assertions of firsthand dreams of successful extractions, however, in a recent discussion on E Dot, the consensus seemed to be that the methanol approach extracted more gunk and the Yoda/August A/B a cleaner product. However, one can still do an A/B cleanup on the methanol product. All this is TRULY hypothetical, as I have no idea if any of it works in the real world!

LOOK SKEPTIC, Why dont you just fucking shut up and do some chemistry for yourself if you dont believe the answers you get when you ask if it is possible. Its not that hard if you have a working brain, so do it then you may be able to make some constructive contributions.
OK

RE: D.I. help
What are you talking about?!? What am I saying I don't believe? I have yet to see anyone here describe their own "dream" experience...everyone's just quoting old net files. You want something more constructive than what I've posted thus far?? Okay, how about this: sulphuric acid and baking soda are useless for acid-base extraction of DMT. Now then, what do YOU have to contribute???

RE: D.I. help
With little thanks to this group, I DreaMT of a crude acid/water extraction of the "Desi" and used S. Rue as a precursor.
It worked quite well.
Good luck.

RE: D.I. help
No, no, no! You don't get off THAT easy, chaldeon, no way! Details PLEASE! We all need to hear them, if we're gonna get anywhere...Please explain your extraction method a little more (or refer me to a URL?). Also, what was the nature and length of the high? Amounts of extract and MAOI consumed?
Give it up, man... ;^)

Sadly, I think he's talking about a brew...Nothing wrong with ayahuasca borealis of course...but me, I want the FLASH!!!

RE: D.I. help
I posted my reply for "RWB", et al, a couple of days ago, but for some reason it doesn't appear on the board. I'll post again the details of this lucid ayahuascan-like dream.
Preparation
3 gm. S. Rue, ground to a powder-like consistency in a mortar and pestle. It was soaked in lime juice for about two hours before consumption.
20 gm. D. Illinoensis, "Desi", root bark was pulverized and soaked in acetic acid for 12 days. Every second or third day, the mixture was returned to the blender for re-mixing
It was stored in a garage where the heat varied from 85-105 deg. Farenheit. Upon completion, I strained the Desi using a tea-strainer only. I then soaked the remaining fibrous material in a fresh acetic acid mix for another hour or so before straining again and rinsing with water.
Consumption
(7:30PM) The Rue tasted hideously enough and, 45 minutes later, the Desi was even worse. No vomiting, nausea, cramps, etc... After half an hour, I did begin to feel a bit uneasy - queasy, if you will. I decided to recline in a dark room.
Effects
(9:00PM) I notice that for the last several minutes I've been enjoying a "light show". In the center of my field of vision were these smallish "spirographic" patterns, similar to certain laser-light projections and screen-savers I've seen, were "playing" with me. These came in varying hues and colors, with an emphasis on purples and magentas. I rose, and as soon as the light from the kitchen came into play, I noticed that my spatial orientation was out of whack. At one moment, I would feel "taller" and the next, "smaller". Angles and lines seemed to sway and distend themselves a bit.
(10:00PM) I'm sitting on my front porch, wondering at an unusually gilded crescent moon while contemplating the cacaphony of copious, chirping crickets courting on my front lawn (without a pict). Flower bed plants are inviting me to join them, but not enough "pschic" energy. I feel at one with creation... peaceful, still and in unison. No euphoria, just calm. By midnight, the effects were, by and large, removed. The next day, I felt a bit "heavy" or tired, but fine. No hangover or other unwanted aftershock was present.
Conclusion
Next time, probably a little more Rue (4gm) and, absent a better preparation, 30 gm of Desi root bark.
Hope this satisfies your request for details.

Thanks chaldeon. Yes, I am feeling extremely satisfied now -- almost (but not quite as good) as the way I feel after having sex with my wife! ;-)

RE: D.I. help
Thanks Chaldeon. Still would like the answer to your orig question: "...Any successful dreams in getting to a clean, readily-vaporized form? Is Yoda right?" Does this communication cycle need to be so damn cryptic. I mean psilocybin, as we all well know is Sched. I but, T. McK's first cultivation book (which I bought back in 6th grade) was clear, simple, effective and on display at every major book store in my home city at that time.
Soapbox here: we should be enjoying ecstatic conversation about the depth of the (in this case FLASH)) experience itself, NOT beating each other up (a la Q's edgy retort) for recipes and road maps.

RE: D.I. help
Yes, indeed, back to the original topic: Successful DMT extraction using D. Illinoiensis root bark. Unfortunately, it seems that only hearsay or "hear-read" make it thus far... Lots of talk, little real knowledge. "All hat and no cattle", as folks down South like to say!
By the way, my research indicates that D. Illinoiensis grows in at least a dozen of these United States.

RE: D.I. help
Chaldeon, I've really appreciated your input and questions here. Has anyone here read through the following extraction report?
http://www.lycaeum.org/drugs/other/extraction/extract1.html
...and does it seem to make sense? I'm just looking for a direction to strike out in and, as RWB has helpfully chided me in another topic area, get on with it.
Perhaps folks could simply list here the URL to their favorite recipe and a brief comment on whether or not it has worked for them. Or Perhaps we could coordinate this like some sort of "Bake-Off" (smirk!). Ya,... we could run this the same way Hi-Times mag used to do their annual Best Bud Contest. (look out the guy's getting giddy here!!) That's right,...we'd all pitch some cash into the kitty to be awarded to the person who delivers the orangiest, waxiest, FLASHiest product in exchange for their winning recipe. (...has anyone tracked the relationship between craven desperate searching and crazy-creative ideation?!):-))

RE: D.I. help
Yes, lux, I have read the extraction technique you mentioned and it is a good one... plus about two dozen others that I could call valid, based on my rather limited chemistry education. Prior to the last dream, which I posted, I had not used such substances for a decade. Over the last three months I've spent my spare time researching legal means of aquiring some of those more desirable psychotropics. The thing that bothers me with the methods we've read, is that they typically start off with a specific raw material; usually "X" Phalaris or Mimosa "Y".
At the same time, I have read at least two reports, specific to Desi, where those who tried a/b extraction failed and were unhappy with the outcome. I have not yet read of one successful outcome - to the pure substance, that is. Either those individuals were too "lazy" to follow the "proven" proceedures, or perhaps there is something unique about the organic structure of D. Illinoiensis which need to be identified before proceeding with a successful extraction. That was why I was hoping to find someone who had specifically worked with Desi. It grows quite abundantly in the U.S. and one would think the enterprising "DreaMsTers" would be digging up roadside crops from Ohio to Texas, but alas... Within the next couple of days, I will receive a batch of P. Viridis and will post my findings... and if not too terribly off-topic, also brief note on the Tricocerius Pachanoi.

Q: Are there any other forums, covering these matters, that enjoy more frequent (and perhaps even more conclusive) input?

RE: D.I. help
I had me a dream where I tried to extract some "craP" out of des. Ill. root (whole root) and it was to no avail-
however: I should have used only root bark and it was my first time
ALSO- I did get a little rush when I dreamed I smoked it.
LESSON- maybe there is no easy way out, maybe this extraction stuff is a SKILL and therfore requires trial and error - meaning the hard work makes the rewardall the better - I have never known anything in life that is good to come easy - (at least if it is worthwhile which I am sure that it is because I have dreamt of smoking orange waxy stuff and I am now in love ;))
my advice- find the most concentrated source and work from there taking notes so lessons learned are not lost - good luck and please share

RE: D.I. help
Good points, however, I wish you would detail your extraction technique, step by step, so we don't make the same mistake as you. That's what this group is about. Regarding the levels of concentration found in raw materials - by that, I mean DMT/gm - D. Illinoensis is one of the highest listed by J. Ott, and in terms of cost per mg. potential yield, if memory serves, it was only about $0.08. Few were higher in content, and they all were more expensive... using my very rough economics.
But if ya' can't get to it, just how "cheap" is it? (BTW, just got my UPS notice on the door... weeehaaah! I'll keep ya' posted.)

Anyone else who's been following this page as suspicious as I am that our good ole friend Chaldeon is sitting on the key recipe for: How to extract smokeable DMT from UPS truck deliveries ??? :-))

RE: D.I. help
Good one, lux! I only wish you were right about me sitting on "the method". I will say, in defense of UPS, that the Tricocereus Pachanoi they delivered was impressive... but how the hell do you get that lousy brown paint out of it!!! ;^)

RE: D.I. help
I hope to post some USEFUL info on DI extraction after I get my DI plants grown. Anyone know where I can find info on how to get the bark off the root without killing the plant?
bacchus
RE: D.I. help
OK Qwertman, come back in 3-4 years and let us know how it went. To answer your question, I don't think you can dig up a large bush, strip the bark of the roots, and NOT kill it! The only descriptions I've heard about actually removing the root bark involved pounding the roots with a hammer to separate the rootbark. While you're waiting for your plants to grow, you might consider buying some from
http://www.herbal-shaman.com (no affiliation)
I suggest them because they sell actual root bark, not just chopped roots.

RE: D.I. help
Hey Bacchus, have you dealt with herbal-shaman personally. If so were they a reliable source, was the product in good condition, were they prompt about sending the product,etc...
Just wanted to know the reliabilty of this company. I really think that DMT WORLD should have a forum or poll where the members rate the companys.
THANKS

RE: D.I. help
No-I've never ordered from them. I do have a passing aquaintance with the owner- we run in some of the same circles, electronically speaking. He also sells the famous 5X salvia extract. I have personal experience with: Allies/...otj - never any problems, but the lack of a phone# is kind of a pain. JLF - they can take a LONG time (if you're waiting on backordered 5MeO). LER - I've never had problems, but MANY people have. Order from them at your own risk.
this should probably be a new thread...

Errk, Well I guess I have to invest more money into this project and get the powder. Now that I have dealt with Herbal Shaman I can say that they are pretty reliable.
