Screensavers, Fractals, Brain Candy

MandleAcid 2.0. A classic.

RainBox 1.2. A way-cool psychedelic painting program.

Bliss Saver by Imaja software, a way-trippy palette-animation screensaver that looks to be better than most, although it costs money and I've only played with the demo. Also available is Bliss Paint, which is similar to RainBox, although probably more sophisticated.

Chthuga. "An oscilloscope on acid."

Darkside of the Mac. A cool freeware screensaver.

ScreenPlasma 1.2. A Fractal screensaver.

Bomb 1.14.1, and eye-candy program that claims to use cellular automata and fractals. Whatever, as long as it looks cool.

MacPlasma 1.1. Old, but amusing anyway.

Persistence of Phosphor Screensaver. Has some nice trippy modules.

HypnOptic 1.0.3. Don't stare at this one if you're epileptic...

sound shapEs 1.2.1, a program that listens to sound input (such as a CD) and draws trippy images to complement your listening experience.

FracPPC. A nice fractal generator. PowerPC only.

EasyFracPPC. Yet another PPC only fractal generator. Does not lose accuracy at high magnification.

PowerXPlorer 1.0.5. Another good fractal generator, with animated colors. PowerPC or math coprocessor required.

Happyweed. Like Pacman, only much better. If only real life were like this!

Foobar vs. The DEA. Shoot-em-up with a drug theme. Mildly amusing.

Eudora, a nice email program available in free and commercial versions. Now interfaces with PGP 5.0.

MacPGP 2.6.2. Official MIT Version.

MacPGP 2.6.3. Has some features 2.6.2 lacks.

PGP 5.0. A major upgrade with a much-improved interface. Available from PGP Software, Inc. as both freeware and commercial versions. The freeware version cannot create keys that are backwards-compatible with 2.6.x keys. PGP Software also makes a variety of other useful software, including a secure partition program, PGPDisk.

PGPfone 1.0b7. Use an internet connection as a secure phone line.

PGP-related software from the InfoMac HyperArchive, including nicer interfaces for MacPGP 2.6.x.

Burn 2.4 by Next Wave Software, to securely (and irrevocably) delete files from your hard disk (emptying the trash is NOT sufficient). They also make Enigma, an encryption program, which is not recommended due to its short key length.

Aladdin Systems, where you can download StuffIt Expander, DropStuff and StuffIt Lite or buy StuffIt Deluxe.

Disinfectant, an excellent free anti-viral program. Updated whenever a new virus is discovered.

Hypnosis 2.7, a HyperCard stack with information on, not suprisingly, hypnosis and self-hypnosis.
